Macy’s is perhaps one of the best retailers out there. With 150 years of history and serving the United States residents that all started in New York City, how can you not love it? Also, it’s amazing that Macy’s continue to advertise, without fail, on discounts every week on major newspapers. How great is that?

Nordstorm has a huge following and also a semi annual sale twice every year. Usually, the retailer has three floors and the main floor is packed while the upper floors have much less traffic because the stuff for sale are much more expensive. In addition, Nordstorm has a great outlet type store called Nordstorm Rack that is extremely popular.

Sak’s Fifth Avenue is ultra high end. It’s got Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Armani, you name it, they have it. The layout of the retailer is often a little weird but hey, it doesn’t matter if they are making money right?

Walmart is awesome because everything is so cheap. Sure, sometimes it’s just a few pennies but Walmart tries to always be the price leader in every product that they sell. I heard that their buyers are very harsh on their suppliers but hey, you will be rich once you get into Walmart.

Century 21 is a discount retailer that has tons of ultra high end clothing at reduced prices. I remember the first time I went in, clothes were like a dumpster but if you have the time, energy and patience to look through all the clothes, you will find very good clothes at very cheap prices. As far as I know though, there is only one store in lower Manhattan.

Bloomingdales is a very nice department store which houses little boutique stores and restaurants within its grounds. One such restaurant is Charlie Palmer which has awesome food. Another is Louis Vuitton which have amazingly high quality hand bags.

Neiman Marcus is a high end retailer which is only opened in high end neighborhoods. What is really weird about this place is that the only form of credit card is American Express. One time, I wanted to get a bag for my wife and I ended up buying it from some other store because they only accepted cash and American Express. Who doesn’t accept Visa and Mastercard these days?

JC Penny is now the queen of everyday department store after Robinson’s May went under. This department store doesn’t have the glamorous look that others do but whenever you walk in, you find great savings because everything is so inexpensive.

Macy’s is perhaps one of the best retailers out there. With 150 years of history and serving the United States residents that all started in New York City, how can you not love it? Also, it’s amazing that Macy’s continue to advertise, without fail, on discounts every week on major newspapers. How great is that?

Macy’s has 150 years of history and it actually invented many “first” like having an in-store Santa during Christmas, big window displays to attract customers etc. To date, it also heavily advertises in major newspapers with coupons so it not only helps sell its clothes, it helps sell newspapers too. I know I’ve bought a copy of LA times because I wanted the Macy’s coupons.

Sak’s Fifth Avenue is ultra high end. It’s got Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Armani, you name it, they have it. The layout of the retailer is often a little weird but hey, it doesn’t matter if they are making money right?

Robinson’s May, for a long time, was the queen of everyday people department store. In fact, my boss used to buy us a $100 gift certificate every Christmas. It’s funny because our secret santa were filled with gifts that could be purchased from the department store. In 2006 though, times were bad and the once popular department stores were bought out by Macy’s, with most of its stores transformed as well.

Bloomingdales is very nice, with shops like Nespresso, Louis Vuitton specialty stores within the building. The color tone is black and white, which brings a sleek and luxury look to the surroundings. Once you step in, you will know what I’m talking about.

Neiman Marcus is not really in many places but those who are rich know this department store inside out. Be careful if you shop there though because they don’t accept Mastercard and Visa. So unless you have American Express or a wad of cash, forget this department store.

Century 21 is a store located in New York City that sells luxury clothing at cheap prices. When you get in, it’s like a mad house as woman are running around scrambling to find the latest and greatest. Clothes are usually in a mess but if you have some patience, you can often come out very happy.

TJ Maxx is one of my wife’s favorite past time. What happens is that major brands often manufacture too many pieces of clothes and TJ Maxx would buy the leftovers in bulk at a really cheap price and then resell it to us at a good price. The savings are actually very good if you don’t mind waiting a bit for the latest model to be sold.

Nordstorm is an awesome department store. The stuff there are pretty high end but not outrages like other stores. What’s funny though is that depending on where the department store is located in, the merchandise that’s for sale is different. This is to get more sales depending on the demographics of course, so pretty smart move there.

Target tries to be Walmart without the “inexpensive” look. What’s interesting is that sometimes, Target’s prices are actually the cheapest around. If you don’t want a huge lineup and still want to buy something very inexpensive, Target is your store.

Robinson’s May used to be my favorite department store because my boss would give us all gift certificates every December during Christmas time. After it went under and bought by Macy’s though, that has become my new favorite since I have so many gift cards that I have to use.

Sears is owned by a famous hedge fund manager and one who arguably knows more about finances than running a retailer. This department store has a bit of everything and it’s hard to tell what exactly it specializes in. However, when times are good, this retailer, like everyone else, makes money.

Bloomingdales is very nice, with shops like Nespresso, Louis Vuitton specialty stores within the building. The color tone is black and white, which brings a sleek and luxury look to the surroundings. Once you step in, you will know what I’m talking about.
